In Loving Memory
Of
Sergeant Gary L. Reese
It is with heavy heart that we, again, announce the loss of another brother. Sergeant Gary L. Reese, assigned to Troop E, 2/278 Regimental Combat Team, was one of three guardsman killed by hostile fire in Iraq. Sgt. Reese was 22 years of age.
Sgt. Reese had returned home for two weeks during the Fourth of July holiday and was proud of the work his unit was doing in Iraq. He was confident the 278 th Regimental Combat Team was doing the right thing for the Iraqi people by helping them begin a new government. Sgt. Reese, described as an unselfish soldier, loved children and had a magnetic personality. One fellow soldier remembers him as her “comic relief”.
Our hearts go out to the Reese family. We all have lost a courageous brother who gave his life for the freedom of others. He will forever live in our hearts and minds as a true hero.
